SAFE Internet Practices

Navigating the digital world safely

The internet is a fast and exciting place, but it's essential to understand how to use it safely. Our primary goal is to help pre-teens and parents learn how to secure passwords, identify spam, and recognize individuals attempting to solicit personal information or credit card numbers. By equipping you with these vital skills, we aim to ensure a positive and protected online experience.

While promoting healthy digital usage we believe in empowering young users with the knowledge to navigate the internet securely. Our dedication to quality and integrity means providing clear, actionable advice to protect against common online risks. We're here to help you build a healthy digital footprint from the start.

About us

Our team has powered together to design a small innovated website to inform preteens and parents with a digital literacy course that  provides information on how to keep our children safe while  navigating the world wide web. We pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our team goal is to deliver information with  quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.

Our virtual tour about online safety

How can we create great passwords?

Focus on creating strong, unique passwords that only your child can remember. Encourage a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Never share passwords with anyone, even friends. Consider using a password manager for easier recall and enhanced security.

How can we identify identity theft users?

Teach pre-teens to be wary of messages asking for personal information like names, addresses, phone numbers, or credit card details. Legitimate organizations will not ask for this sensitive information via email or unsolicited messages. If something feels suspicious, it probably is.

What are kid-friendly websites?

Guide your child to websites specifically designed for their age group. These sites often have moderated content, educational games, and safer social interactions. Look for websites with clear privacy policies and parental controls. "Stay in the kid friendly website zone" is a good rule of thumb.

How do I talk to my child about online risks?

Maintain open communication with your child about their online activities. Discuss potential dangers without scaring them, emphasizing that you are there to help if they encounter anything concerning. Regular check-ins can build trust and prevent issues from escalating.

What should we do if approached by strangers online?

Teach pre-teens never to engage in conversations with strangers online, especially if they try to ask personal questions or arrange to meet in person. Report suspicious interactions to a trusted adult immediately. This includes "talking with hackers" and "talking with solicitors talking with adults."

How can we spot spam or phishing attempts?

Look for unusual email addresses, poor grammar, urgent language, or requests for sensitive information. Hover over links before clicking to see the actual destination. If an email or message seems too good to be true, it likely is a scam.

How can we protect our personal information online?

Avoid sharing real names, addresses, phone numbers, school names, or photos that reveal your location. Adjust privacy settings on social media and apps to limit who can see your information. Always think before you post.

What should I do if my child feels unsafe online?

Reassure your child that it is okay to come to you with any concerns or unsettling experiences. Do not blame them. Work together to block and report the user or content, and if necessary, contact relevant authorities or support organizations.
